A continuous multi-segmented deviation framework for multi-choice fuzzy goal programming

| This study presents an advanced formulation of multi-choice fuzzy goal programming by introducing a continuous multi-segment deviation framework that enables a refined representation of decision-maker preferences. In contrast to conventional goal programming approaches, where deviation variables are treated uniformly and weighted in a linear manner, the proposed model decomposes each deviation into several continuous segments with distinct bounds and importance weights. This structure provides the capability to model non-uniform and asymmetric preference patterns across different deviation levels while preserving the linearity of the overall formulation. Furthermore, the model incorporates flexible fuzzy aspiration levels defined through membership functions, allowing for gradual satisfaction of goals under imprecise conditions. The proposed framework offers a disaggregated and transparent representation of deviations, enhancing the interpretability of trade-offs among competing objectives. A numerical example is developed to illustrate the applicability and effectiveness of the model, and the results indicate that the proposed structure yields solutions that better reflect nuanced preference behaviors compared to traditional formulations. |
